Our goal at Sunset Veterinary Care is to provide the most peaceful transition for your pet in the comfort of your home. During our initial phone consultation, we will gather necessary information to ensure that the euthanasia process is as peaceful as possible for both you and your pet.
Upon arrival at your home, we will work together to create a peaceful environment for your pet. I will handle some paperwork, finalize any decisions, and process the payment.
Once you and your pet are settled, we will administer an initial medication cocktail to gently relieve any pain or discomfort your pet may be feeling, encourage relaxation, and bring your pet into a deep and comfortable anesthetic sleep. During this time, you may talk to, comfort, and be close to your pet as they relax. Following this, a final injection will be given to help your pet peacefully transition and pass.
Depending on what you decide is best for you and your family, we will assist with aftercare services, always ensuring respect and integrity in everything we do. If you choose, a lock of fur will be collected at your home for you as a keepsake. Additional memorials, such as a paw print, are also available to honor your pet if you wish.
After the appointment, we will communicate with your pet’s regular veterinary team to notify them of your pet’s passing. Pets weighing more than 60 lbs may require assistance in transferring your pet to the vehicle. For pets greater than 100 lbs, more than one person may be needed to help with the transfer.
